10 hidden gems in Bali only locals know
Jul 6, 2026 · 6 min read
Bali's famous spots are famous for a reason — but the island's real magic hides down the side roads. After years of hosting tours here, these are the quiet corners I send friends to first.
1. The waterfall with no name
Tucked behind a village north of Ubud, this one takes a short scramble — and rewards you with an empty pool and zero selfie sticks. Go early, before 8 AM.
2. A warung that only opens at dawn
The best bubur (rice porridge) on the island is served from a tiny cart that vanishes by 9 AM. Follow the motorbikes and the smell of lemongrass.
💡Tip: rent a scooter only if you're confident. Otherwise our Bali Escape tour covers most of these with a local driver.
...and seven more you'll have to earn on foot. The point isn't the checklist — it's slowing down enough to notice the island breathing.

Did the dawn warung run last month — unreal. Thanks for the tip!
Saving this for our trip in September. 🙌
